Another one of New Zealand’s endemic species, this is widely distributed throughout North and South Islands. It was the second most frequently met of our species after the ubiquitous Xanthocnemis zealandica (Common Redcoat). A. colensonis is a relatively large damselfly and makes X. zealandica look quite small.
If it’s a blue-ish damselfly in New Zealand, then it’s A. colensonis.
