A cousin of Episynlestes intermedius with somewhat more ordinary looking, though still impressive, anal appendages on the male. Usually occurring in rainforests, this species is more widespread in Australia being in southern Queensland and in New South Wales.
We saw both male and a female in Carnarvon Gorge and managed to get pictures of both. The lighting was a little easier, too, though a light background can make the male’s appendages tricky to see.
