Erythemis simplicicollis (Eastern Pondhawk)

This species seems to be particularly prone to true cannibalism; there are several images of it preying on its own species on iNaturalist.

I found a single example, this male, on my late season trip to Richmond, Virginia, in October 2024. The mature male’s body is entirely pruinose with distinctive white appendages.

I would love to have sen the spectacular female but no such luck.
