Orthetrum glaucum is distributed throughout tropical and subtropical Asia and south and east to New Guinea. Our meeting was in Hong Kong en route to the Antipodes in 2017. We saw a couple of individuals on day #2 in Honk Kong Park.
O. glaucum is easily confused with the painfull similar O. luzonicum but the latter has brighter blue-green eyes (which I haven’t yet personally witnessed). Being widespread, there are a series of common names applied and I’ve plumped for Common Blue Skimmer, largely because I trust the Singaporean book, though Asian Skimmer might sound appropriate, too.
