This is a truly impressively large dragonfly, particularly the females whose wingspan can exceed 16cms. It has been described as the world’s largest dragonfly, although I believe there is a contender in Asia This is endemic to northeast Queensland.
Seeing these on FNQ 2022 was probably the greatest thrill. We were lucky enough to find and snag both a male and a female.
