Pseudagrion ignifer (Flame-headed Riverdamsel)
An eastern Australian endemic, almost as impressive as Pseudagrion aureofrons (Gold-fronted Riverdamsel) is its cousin, Pseudagrion ignifer (Flame-headed Riverdamsel). This has a much smaller patch of colour on the face which can be harder to see at some angles. It is also less widely spread than P. aureofrons.
I saw two of these, both on slightly different sections of Booloumba Creek. Happily, despite still needing Wellies, I managed slightly better pictures of these than I did of P. aureofrons. I had slightly better luck on my FNQ 2022 trip when a tandem pair obliged.
