Tramea loewii (Common Glider) seems happy with almost any type of water and ranges widely in Australia. It is also found in Indonesia, Micronesia, New Caledonia and, I now learn, New Zealand [since 2011 – I must update my New Zealand species page].
In 2019, Queensland, we found these in several locations, usually with no opportunity of a decent photograph. However, we did see a settled, worn specimen in Carnarvon Gorge and I subsequently managed to snag a clean example in flight at the Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens in Brisbane. FNQ 2022 produced some much better perched shots.
